Accreditation:
Education Quality Indicators
Most countries have their
own means to monitor higher education and accredited institutions.
However the increasing demand for private education and new pedagogical
methodologies often turns government endeavors into an slow,
bureaucratic and sometimes ineffective process when dealing with
accredited institutions from a dynamic private sector on a global scale.
In such circumstances, accredited institutions of education will
voluntarily seek some differentiation through quality assessment and
independent third party references such as those offered by the World
Association for Distance Education or these selected bodies.
The World Association for Distance Education is not the only body
offering educational quality audits and international accreditation for
accredited institutions of distance education. There are other similar
bodies that offer memberships, recognition, references, etc... according
to their own criteria and standards. Despite of such differences, these
approaches lead to the same goal: to ensure the member accredited
institutions of education's quality and integrity. The World Association
for Distance Education selection of distance education quality
indicators will also provide updated knowledge about the best practices
and quality assurance in education from many perspectives.
